Google Earth

Regardless of what you think of the amazingly gargantuan juggernaut that is Google, you have to admit that Google Earth is an astounding piece of work.

If you haven’t already got it installed, go and grab it and start having a play. There is a link in the right sidebar!

Once you move beyond the basics (tracked down your house, checked out all your friends and relatives houses, found everywhere you have ever lived, zoomed into the Sydney Opera House, the Grand Canyon and had a good look around New York) you will find an amazing amount of features to explore.

For instance, did you know that you can now tour the stars with Google Sky? Take to the skies with a hidden flight simulator? Build your house in 3D or post your holiday snaps at the point at which you took them and share them with friends and family or the world?

I’ll keep adding to this page as I come across more interesting features.

Now, more than ever, the world really is at your fingertips!

An extension of XML, called KML, allows anyone who wishes to create their own presentations for Google Earth.Visit the Google KML Documentation page for more information on KML. Just as web browsers display HTML files, Earth browsers such as Google Earth display KML files. Here is a collection of some of the best I have found.
